A few of our Thanksgiving bloopers:
You want me to put my hand where?

Delicious!

Boys will be boys:

We have so much to be thankful for this year, especially with our amazing friends and family! We were so happy to host our very first Hawaiian Thanksgiving dinner and it was definitely one to be remembered! The boys spent the day surfing at the beach and us girls slaved away (more like drank away) the day while cooking up a feast. After prepping all the goods for the night, us girls headed down for a glimpse of the sunset and to share a bottle of wine. We were once again reminded of how beautiful the islands are as we were greeted with this colorful rainbow:

The day continued to bless us with an amazing sunset, viewed from a hiking spot above Waimea:

Back to the house for some grinds!

When Mosquito’s attack, fight back!

Other than the get-up, our second line of defense is our super cat Jeffrey:

Yesterday finally gave Pipe the swell it needed to make its debut for the season. Double to triple overhead and absolutely pumping. Jon and I were surfing the spot just to the right of Pipe called Gums. We had the peak all to ourselves and definitely had some of the best seats in the house to watch the occasional monster set steam roll through Pipe. You can’t even imagine how loud that wave is until you’re sitting off the shoulder and staring straight into the pit. The hoots and hollers by the other riders in the water make it even more exciting, with the crowd occasionally erupting into applause as a giant wave spit a rider out of its belly. There were one or two cleanup sets that came through and literally gave Jon and I the chills. No wonder people die out there.
The angle from the beach doesn’t do the wave justice, but the footage is still amazing:
Jon is just SO friendly. We tried and tried to tell him that the reef was just not worth getting to know, but he’s such a nice guy he figured he would try to introduce himself. He smooth talked her, showed off his happy feet, sang her a song and what do you think she did? She sank her gnarly teeth in and tore his pretty little self to pieces:

“It’s raining, it’s pouring, the Hawaiian skies are boring”…
Like my rhyme? Yeah, I’ve had lots of time to work on it since this stink’n rain won’t stop and we’re all couped up in the freezing house. So, what do we do with all of our spare time? Jon put his crotcheting skills to use and made us warm winter hats, Ryan hooked up the wii so we could play “Guitar Hero” and “Tennis” and I keep coming up with excuses to use the oven in hopes of generating some heat. The worst part about all of this rain is that there really is no end in sight. The weather is supposed to stay nasty throughout the rest of this week and into next with flash flood warnings in effect and all! Oh man I love living on the North Shore–I bet my town counterparts are out long-boarding right now. * Winnie, you can say, “I told you so” now…

** I should mention that yesterday the grocery clerk told me to drive carefully in the snow, he thought he was funny, I thought about ways to kill him**
Rocking out to Guitar Hero:

One too many pina-coladas for our Who-Ville friend:

This was my face before and after I realized the oven could be our heater:

Mother nature has decided to play a little game with us Hawaiians and throw a nasty storm at our coatless little souls. It’s a good thing Ryan and I were prepared with these awesome onesies! Take that mother nature– you’re going to have to try much harder to take OUR sunshine away!
