The nester over at the nesting place http://nestingplacenc.blogspot.com/ is hosting a handmade holiday gala-featuring women who make their own crafts and encouraging us to support them by buying handmade for the holidays! Check out her blog and look around and see what you can find.
If you’re ever wondering what we are up to between the hours of 4-6 you can think of this:

We will be passed out on our blow up mattress, suffocating from the inescapable heat that permeates our house during these hours. It’s impossible to stay awake and we dare you to come out and try it- no one has yet to survive the dreaded 4 o’clock death heat. Dobber thought we had all died of carbon monoxide poisoning when he got home from work and saw us all passed out throughout the house.
If you know me and Ryan, you understand how much we love dessert, candy, sweets…pretty much anything with sugar! Lately, I’ve been on a mochi craze and luckily our grocery store makes some fresh everyday. Between these delicious treats and the 7-11 around the corner that sells Tollhouse Ice Cream sandwiches, we are becoming a bunch of fatties. Seriously, between all the junk we have been eating and the recent birthday cupcakes we demolished you would think that we had had our fill of sweets. Oh- but you can never have too much junk!
Ryan was recently daydreaming about a Mohr family dessert that he absolutely loves and after describing it’s deliciousness to Jon, they’ve been bugging me non-stop to make it! I’m talking about the fantabulous Mohr family Peanut Butter Pies. Honestly, I have no idea if there is an actual recipe for this dessert. I had it a few times at Mohr family BBQ’s and once in a great while in college Ryan and I would try to reproduce this goody for our friends. The great thing about this dessert is that you can make it anyway that you choose.
The basics of this dessert are Rice Krispy Cereal, Karo Syrup and Peanut Butter for the crust- mix all of these ingredients together and press into a pie pan. For the “filling” use any kind of ice cream or sorbet and press into the pan. Now for the fun part- decorate your pie with any other goodies you can think of. I once made a raspberry sorbet pie with fresh fruit and sprinkles on top!
Ryan’s favorite is the Peanut Butter- Peanut Butter Pie which is what I made tonight. I used vanilla ice cream, a layer of peanut butter and melted chocolate on top. I wish I had some little Reese’s Peanut Butter cups to go around the edges but all I had was chocolate chips!
I’m glad we have a nice digital camera to remember the days before our teeth rotted out…

In honor of Dobber’s 26th birthday (how the hell did we get into the upper 20’s so fast?) I made a delicious assortment of “Boobie Cakes”. I saw these cute little cupcakes a while back and hoped that one day I would get the chance to make them. That chance finally came when we had some of Dobber’s work buddies over for a party. I knew that these little cakes would be fun and hopefully embarrass Dobber just a little bit- you can tell he loved them by the look on his face in these photos!

Yup- that’s the face of a satisfied customer!
Ryan enjoyed these cakes a little too much I think. He was so inspired by what it might be like to actually have boobies that I caught him prancing around in my underwear waiting to surprise Dobber when he got home!

Wow, this is why we love him so much!

Here are some up close photos of the “Boobie Cakes”:

A man’s dream, Boobies as far as the eye can see:

If you’re wondering what the “nips” are, I found sugar puffs in the candy isle at our local grocery store. I can’t remember exactly what they are called, but they are made by the same company who makes “Peach-o’s”. They’re silly and delicious- we demolished 50+ cupcakes in two days!
SURF FINALLY!!

With no waves to speak for we created our own surfing fun! Check out Ryan in this sweet barrel:

Look at the concentration on his face– this wave was a fatty!

Well our trip sadly came to an end but the stinky laundry lasted for days. Our world traveler of course had an excellent solution to his dirty and wet clothes. Seth wasted no time at all drying his laundry at the airport. This is why we love you and probably why you don’t smell as bad as us:

Just as a teaser, a wicked attempt to lure of back to Tahiti, we were graced with an absolutely stunning sunset on our very last evening. The forecast for the upcoming week: Sunny, blue skies, pina-coladas raining from the sky and sunsets like this:
