While Mike and Winnie were out here we managed a weekend trip to Maui. Every year during the winter months, enormous humpback whales migrate to the shallow channel between Maui and Molokai. We were lucky enough to take a whale watching excursion (actually we loved it so much we did it twice) and see these graceful giants up close!
There were so many whales to be seen that even the tables at lunch had binoculars! Here is Ryan checking them out over a burger and beer:

Down to the harbor for our excursion:
Fresh catch of the day!
Yum- Mahi Mahi (he’s the fat one in the back)
Ryan’s ready to see some whales!
Looking back….
Only a few minutes into our journey and we came upon a large group of males competing for one female. These guys were aggressive, vocal and entertaining!

Some of them liked to show off more than others…
These guys started competing, slapping their tales, “arms” and even breaching for us!
A second too late but check out the splash!
Imagine these guys following you around!
“Bye” thanks for checking us out!
I know I’ve been working out but gosh…I didn’t realize I was this strong!

We love the small town feel of Lahaina’s downtown…

Banyan tree were the local artist display their goods each weekend and perform for the tourists…

Every detail of Lahaina reminds you that this place was once a quite fishing village…
Simply put:
Something tells me that although Gordita (little fat girl) is adorable, she might be hard to keep secret from our housing management. Maybe one day we can take a little fatty like her home?
Keeping with the Mohr St. Patty’s Day spirit, we headed downtown to celebrate and were welcomed by the masses. Decked out in green, silly hats and lots of beer we shared a Guinness and some local musicians attempting to capture the spirit of Ireland.

In place of the traditional Whiskey, I attempted my first Guinness!

Ah- I’m glad that is over…

Back home we attempted to make green pudding with soy milk. In case you were wondering, it doesn’t work. We did manage to make up the word “Puddify” as in “Our pudding didn’t Puddify” but heck we tried!

Now on to something we do know how do to- cigars! Ryan has been practicing since childhood.

We toasted our “unpuddified” pudding to ’strong women” in honor of his great grandmother Mary Agnus and smoked our Hawaiian Island cigars down on the beach.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone!
I have a history of cell phone abuse, I think it is somewhat of a curse. Take a trip down cell phone hell with me would you?
Phone Number 1- Required duct tape and a ball point pen for simple tasks such as dialing and turning on/off
Phone Number 2- Dead screen= not knowing who you are answering a call from and not really certain you are calling the person you intended until they answer (Imagine not being able to screen your calls- how did you guys do it in the “old days”?)
Phone Number 3- Ok, I’ll admit it…this one was my fault. Rushing to pack for Europe I somehow managed to wash my cell phone with the laundry resulting in it’s untimely death.
Phone Number 4- Borrowed from my mom and well…the pictures pretty much explain the death of this one:
How does this keep happening?!?!?!?

Is this Verizon’s idea of a two for one?
If the warm water, waves and beach babes haven’t convinced you to visit us, maybe these will:
Peanut Butter Cookies
Or how about the world’s best chocolate cupcake?
Could these have turned out any better..I don’t think so!

Thanks for the mixer grandma- our bellies, friends and beach boys all think you are amazing!
