Yes, its true. We were in California for about .3 seconds in early December. Heather’s brother was married December 10th in Klamath Falls, California (right on the Cal/Oregon border) and we made the trip out to help celebrate. It was cold, short lived and busy but nice to be back in familiar territory for a short while.

We’re still waiting on wedding photos, but here are some pics from the week before the wedding:

Make sure you save this one to your hard-drive, it may never happen again!

Was talking to Rich today and he said it reached 15 degrees in SLO last night.  Brrrrr.  No whitty comments or taunts with this one, just a friendly postcard from us to those back home (especially those over on the shitty, whoops, I mean east coast ;)

We were so excited to have Mike, Winnie, Erin, Seth, Jeff and Kelly out here to celebrate New Years with us. Keeping with true Mohr tradition we all dressed up in costumes themed “uniquely Hawaiian” and hit the town! You don’t want to miss these photos:

You might have been thinking that the slow pace of island life caused us to slack on our blog, but it’s quite the opposite. We’ve been running around celebrating the holidays, making pit stops in California and Oregon, and hosting to friends and family for the past few weeks. 2007 has started off with a bang for us and here are some highlights of our recent happenings:

Christmas 2007

Christmas was unlike any we had either experienced. Lack of family, lack of rain and cold weather left us feeling more like we were “playing” Christmas than actually celebrating it. Something about snowmen made out of sand, red and green bikini’s and santa in board shorts just didn’t quite feel like the holiday we were used to celebrating. We gave it a go anyway.

We woke up to Christmas music (a Mohr) tradition and opened our stockings over a cup of hot chocolate. We splurged on cinnamon rolls while opening presents and then hit the beach for a swim. We mostly hung around the house listening to Chritmas music from an internet site and watching holiday specials like the Diseny parade!

After the disaster we experienced with Thanksgiving dinner, we decided to go low key and non-traditional for our feast. Instead of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and pumpkin pie we opted for chicken pasta with sundried tomatoes (my mom makes it the best!), garlic bread, corn and trusty ‘ol Sutter Home wine. Our first (quiet) Christmas ended with none other than Pirates of the Caribbean and passing out on our broken sofa.

Although it was different, it was ours and will forever be remembered as our first Christmas away from home, as a married couple in paradise! It just goes to show that Christmas really isn’t about the music, or the food, the presents or decorations, but what makes Christmas special is celebrating with loved ones, laughing about the past and looking forward to the future.

Next year we’re talking about Christmas in the snow…any takers? I think we’ll be prepared in these cozy sleepers.

Bobby James comes to Hawaii

Working backwards here, Bobby came out to visit us the week before Christmas. Sunny days, late nights and good surf marked his visit. Bobby scored some amazing skimming at Waimea Bay throughout the week and Ryan and I lucked out with some incredible (and suprising) surf out at Waikiki. We had so much fun while he was out here and definetly hope he considers coming out here after graduating! We’re looking forward to many more visits from him and all the rest of you…
