Living in Waikiki is fun, convenient and NOISY!! We’re told Honolulu is populated as dense (if not more) than places like San Francisco and New York city. With city life comes the traffic, construction and what seems to be never ending garbage trucks at 6am. Not that we are complaining, the balance of city life and paradise works for us! Just today we took a short drive up to the North Shore and escaped into what the locals call “country”. We visited famous surf breaks like Pipeline, Sunset Beach and the well known surf town (home of Jack Johnson) Haleiwa. Now that we are beginning to settle into life here we’ve been able to enjoy evening swims, morning surfs, weekend hikes and family bbqs. Once out here we were immediately “adopted” into a local family and we spend a lot of time in their Pau Hana (”done for the day”) hut.
